Ms. Maxine Payne is an attorney at the New York City Department of Education (DOE). She received her B.A. in English from New York University and a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. After receiving her J.D., Maxine began working in the private sector where she quickly came to the realization that her passion was in the public sector, serving children specifically. She then embarked on her career at the DOE where she has spent the past 15 years and held various positions, some of which included Staff Attorney, Special Assistant, Director of the Office of Compliance Service and currently Senior Director in the Office of Campus Governance. In addition, to her work at the DOE, Maxine is dedicated to supporting girls and women through the crucial developmental ages of 14-24. She currently serves as a mentor to high school and undergraduate students.
